Pre-Op Lymphatic Drainage Prep
Preparing your body before cosmetic surgery can influence how smoothly you recover afterward.
Mile High Lymphatic provides pre-operative lymphatic drainage in Denver and Centennial to help optimize circulation, reduce baseline inflammation, and prepare the body for surgical stress.
Think of it like clearing leaves from a storm drain before a monsoon — when swelling comes, the system is already moving well.
Think of pre-op lymphatic as “clearing the leaves out of a storm drain before A monsoon.”
Surgery creates controlled trauma in the body. Afterward, swelling and fluid retention are normal responses.
Pre-operative lymphatic drainage can help:
• Improve baseline lymphatic flow
• Reduce existing inflammation
• Decrease pre-surgical congestion
• Support smoother early recovery
• Familiarize you with post-op techniques
While it does not prevent swelling, it may help your system respond more efficiently once healing begins.

“Red Carpet Ready” — An Ideal Pre-surgical Option
The “Red Carpet Ready” session (Brazilian-style lymphatic drainage) available on Summit’s broader massage menu can be an excellent pre-operative treatment.
This technique:
• Encourages fluid movement and tissue hydration
• Reduces bloating and stagnation
• Promotes circulation
Before surgery, this can help “clear the pathways” so post-operative swelling has less resistance. We adjust protocols based on your surgical plan and aesthetic goals.
When Should You Schedule Pre-Op Sessions?
Most patients schedule 1–3 sessions in the 2–3 weeks before surgery depending on budget and availability. We schedule the final session no closer than 3 days prior to procedure, unless cleared by your surgeon.
Understanding Post-Operative Expectations
During your appointment, we are happy to chat with you about:
• Typical swelling timelines and MLD as a way to manage fluids
• When to begin lymphatic drainage after surgery
• What early sessions feel like
• Realistic session progressions
Suggested Post-Op SUpport Schedule
While every surgeon’s protocol is different, many cosmetic surgery patients follow a structure similar to:
Week 1–2:
2–3 sessions per week (with clearance)
Week 3–4:
1–2 sessions per week
Weeks 5–8:
Gradual tapering based on swelling and tissue response
Total sessions often range between 6–12 in the first phase of recovery, but your plan is always individualized.
